Making Your Reservations
Field trips at the Cable Natural History Museum are scheduled
on a first-come, first-served basis and reservations are required.
Every field trip includes a tour of our
current exhibit, hands-on experiments, activities, and simulations.
Field trip sessions are approximately
1½ to 2 hours
in length, with one session offered in the morning and one
session in the afternoon. Morning sessions are scheduled between
8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon and afternoon sessions are scheduled
between 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. You have the freedom to
designate the time slot within the session based on your school
schedule and availability.
On average, we teach up to 50 students per field trip session.
With larger schools we usually separate the classes into different
days or we schedule the school for one full day, occupying
both the morning and afternoon sessions.

Payment Options
School groups attending a field trip at the Cable Natural
History Museum are charged $2.00 per student with a $40.00
minimum. There is no charge for teachers or adult chaperones.
Payments can be made on arrival or we can provide your school
with an invoice. Checks can be made out to the Cable Natural
History Museum or payments can be made in cash.
While we encourage you to use our on-line registration
form, if you need extra assistance or have additional questions,
please feel free to contact the
Museum.
Directions to the Cable Natural History Museum
The Cable Natural History Museum’s
offices and exhibit space are currently housed in the Cable
Business Center located on the southeast corner of the intersection
of Kavanaugh Road and Spruce Streets in the Town of Cable. Our current street address is 43570 Kavanaugh Road.

Please unload your bus at the north side
of the building at the education entrance. There is a large
sign indicating the Museum’s entrance at this location.
Lunch Options
Are you planning on eating lunch before or after visiting the
Cable Natural History Museum? There are several places close
to the Cable Natural History Museum that are available for
group lunches:
Cable Town Park – this park is less than
1 mile from the Museum and is located off of Sunset road within
the Town of Cable. The amenities at this location include both
a handicap accessible men’s and women’s bathroom,
running water (hot and cold), electricity, a large picnic shelter
with picnic tables, playground equipment, baseball fields,
tennis courts, basketball court, and a skateboarding park.
In order to reserve the Cable Town Park
for your school group’s
use please make a reservation on-line at the Town
of Cable’s
website.
Note: In the event of rain, we appreciate
you considering an alternative site as the Cable Town Park
becomes an outdoor classroom space for the Museum’s
field trips. When inclement weather is forecasted near the
date of your scheduled field trip please inquire with the
Museum staff regarding alternative lunch sites.
Namekagon River Wayside - this wayside is less
than 2 miles from the Museum and is located off of Randysek
Road within the town of Cable. The amenities at this location
include an outhouse and two large picnic tables. There are
no reservations required to use this space.
County Hwy 63 Wayside - this wayside is less than 3
miles from the Museum and is located off of County Highway
63 on the Namekagon River . The amenities at this location
include an outhouse and two large picnic tables. There are
no reservations required to use this space.
