Four interesting and colorful gardens will be the focus of the Cable Natural History Museum’s 2011 Garden Tour on Saturday, July 16th. The gardens, located along a 26-mile loop through the towns of Cable and Namakagon, will stimulate tour participants’ sense of beauty, art, and whimsy. While our northern growing season is short and quite unpredictable, each of the four garden owners has created a unique and attractive garden that will, at once, charm and inspire you.
The featured gardens for this year’s tour include: a lovely cottage garden surrounding a handsome stone-stucco house in the woods; a collection of raised beds that beautifully integrate vegetables, flowers, fruit-bearing plants and outdoor art; a labor of love comprised of numerous native perennial beds interwoven with hand-laid pathways; and an operating railroad garden filled with beautiful plants and miniatures that will mesmerize you. A number of restaurants and establishments are located along the route on County Hwy D and County Hwy M if a lunch stop is in order.
Save the date for the 2011 Garden Tour, July 16th, on your summer calendar and plan to spend a pleasant day visiting four lovely gardens and relaxing at the Museum after finishing your self-paced tour. The GARDENS will be OPEN for visiting between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and followed by a RECEPTION with complimentary refreshments at the Cable Natural History Museum from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.
All proceeds from the Garden Tour will benefit the Cable Natural History Museum. TOUR TICKETS, at $10 each, will be available at publicized outlets after May 1, 2011. For further information, please contact the Museum at 715-798-3890 or info@cablemuseum.org. |
