Cable Natural History Museum Appoints Executive Director
Michelle Gostomski has been appointed Executive Director of
the Cable Natural History Museum, effective May 31. Allison Slavick,
who has served as Executive Director for the past 15 years, had
previously announced her departure on that date.
Gostomski is currently Executive Director
of the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation in Michigan.
She is familiar with the Cable area, having previously lived
in Washburn and Ashland for five years and worked as a fundraiser
for Big Top Chautauqua and the Bayfield Heritage Association.
She also has taught biology at the high school and college
level. Gostomski has a bachelor’s
degree in biology, music and education from Alma College (Mich.)
and a master’s in biology education from Central Michigan
University. She completed the Nonprofit Administration Certificate
Program at UW-Superior in 2000 and is currently pursuing the
Certified Fundraising Executive credential and the Human Resources
Certificate from UW-Superior.
Ron Anderson, Chairman of the Museum’s Board of Directors
said, "We are excited about having Michelle take over leadership
of the museum. She has the skills and interest in natural history
needed to further the museum's mission of helping people connect
with nature. Her strength in fund raising and administration
complement those of the current staff in natural history education."
Gostomski’s husband, Ted, is a biologist
and a writer and previously worked for Apostle Islands National
Lakeshore and Northland College. |
